PROGRAM REVIEW AND FOCUS GROUP FOR ACCOUNTING AND FOR MIS

Dean Duggar asked that we have a program review and focus group for accounting and for MIS. Dean Duggar asked Dr. Washam and Dr. David Boyd to look at putting together either the advisory group or focus group or both as well as a distance academic to look at the accounting program. Distance academic – use someone that AACSB is using for accounting accreditation. Line up a group that we could have in for a breakfast

or whatever and have two to three programs around the country and ask them to review our programs etc.

Dean Duggar asked Dr. Replogle to do the same for MIS. MIS distance – open to suggestions but would like to use some of the nationally known programs if possible.

Dean Duggar suggested contacting Dan Hoyt and Lonnie Talbert to get some information on outstanding students. Patriotism on Goff etc.? Laddie Logan was a Lt. Colonel in Vietnam also. Good time to do something for John Tipton. Herbert Price, etc. Rolland Mullins. Gary Latanich did two tours in Vietnam. Focus on students also who have had to interrupt their studies to go to war.

Dean Duggar would like to see a check-off advising form for each year on students. Such as, showing their involvement in various activities.

Dean Duggar gave a draft from Cynthia Wolfe to the committee on a proposal to the Walton Family Foundation to have ASU as the Engine for Economic Development in the Arkansas Delta. He wants the committee to review this, mark it up and get back to Dean Duggar ASAP.

Dr. Replogle asked the committee about the brochure for evening classes as he submitted a template to the Chairs and didn’t have a response. He will e-mail the template again.

Dean Duggar asked Dr. Ford to have Dr. Frey respond to Dr. Replogle on this.

Dr. Boyd commented that he is concerned with the Graduate classes – has anything been done to give a little relief. 51 students in a graduate class and Dr. Ford has 43. These are regular graduate courses. MIS has close to 40. Dean Duggar stated that we need to look at some of the introductory courses to see if we could back down on some other classes. Dr. Boyd asked if we have the ability to have graduate students to teach the courses. Johnny VanHorn is teaching under a teaching assistant. This is a way to free up some time.

Dr. Replogle asked the committee if we have anything to evaluate the graduate assistants.
