FACULTY/STAFF MEETING
Dr. Roe asked the committee about ideas for the menu
for the Faculty/Staff Meeting and everyone was asked
whether or not they would like to have Popeye’s
again. The consensus was to go with Popeye’s again.
Chris will contact and make the arrangements.
NATIONAL HEALTH INSTITUTE
Dr. Roe announced that someone from the National Health
Institute is going to be presenting on the 28th of July
on how to apply for research grants. Dr. Roe is supposed
to receive more information on this.
SALARY EQUITY
The RAAC Meeting was cancelled and Dr. Allen met with
the Academic Deans instead. Dr. Roe discussed with the
committee members Amendment D to the Arkansas Dept.
of Higher Education on Salary Equity. As defined by
both the Faculty Handbook and the formula and market
forces is not justifiable. Whatever was sent forward
by the deans is being sent back. Dean Hanrahan asked
why some in administration received salary adjustments.
Dr. Allen stated that it was reallocation of budget
money within their unit.

STRATEGIC PLANNING
Contracted with a firm called the Penson group to facilitate
the Strategic Plan for the University.
UNIVERSITY LECTURE SERIES
Academic Affairs is proposing that we fold the lecture
part of the university lecture series to academics.
Each college will take a turn in providing a portion
of the lecture series. Suggesting that the university
set aside a time every week that no classes be scheduled
so we could have a lecture/seminar every week. Dr. Allen
suggested Tuesday and Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. and Dr.
Roe commented that we couldn’t do that because
we offer MBA classes at this time. The question was
asked as to where the money would come from for these
lectures and it is not going to come out of the current
university lecture series.
UNIVERSITY OPENING CEREMONY
Dr. Allen has proposed that we have a University Opening
Ceremony every Fall during the first week of classes
at which time all faculty in academic regalia march
across the campus at which point the President gives
a State of the University address. The students don’t
get information and they don’t see our faculty
in academic regalia except at graduation.
OFFICE OF INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS & SERVICES
We are bringing in a consultant to review the Office
of International Programs & Services in terms of
what they do and how they can better serve the international
students.
OTHER
Dr. Allen visited with the Executive Committee of the
Faculty Senate and is bringing in a retired friend of
hers to rewrite the Faculty Handbook.
Dr. Seydel asked if there were any approvals for position
requests and we have not heard anything as yet.
Meeting adjourned at 4:11 p.m.
Next meeting scheduled for July 28, 2003 at 3:30 p.m.
in the COB Conference Room BU105.
