DRAFT OF COMMITTEE STRUCTURE
Dean Duggar arrived late for the meeting and he said
he had not completed the draft of the committee structure
as yet. He had several people who wanted to be on the
International Committee, Graduate Committee, Faculty
Development Committee and Assessment Committee. Dean
Duggar told the Department Chairs that they have the
decision of the Planning Committee Representative in
their department, therefore; when they get their representative,
to please let him know.
PLANNING RETREAT
There was discussion regarding the Planning Retreat
as far as the date and location. The committee was asked
whether to have it on either Wednesday, August 7th or
Thursday, Auugst 8th. It appears that some people will
be on vacation at that time; therefore; the committee
proposed to have the Planning Retreat on August 23rd
either in Mtn. Home or anywhere that would be two hours
away from Mtn Home in order for Dr. Washam to get to
his class that evening. Dean Duggar arrived late and
suggested that we have the Planning Retreat on August
16th because if we have it on the 23rd, then we will
not have any proposed items for the Faculty/Staff Meeting
to be held on August 20th. It was suggested to use the
President’s House in Mtn. Home and Chris is to
contact Pam Kail about scheduling this for the Planning
Retreat. In the event that this would not be available,
then contact ASU-Mtn. Home to find a place on campus
to schedule the meeting.
FACULTY/STAFF MEETING
The Faculty/Staff Meeting is scheduled for August 20th
from 11:30-1:30 p.m. The committee suggested having
Popeye’s for lunch for the Faculty/Staff Meeting.
Spicy and mild chicken. James McDaniel is the owner
and Dr. Frey knows him and stated that maybe he could
do something special for us. The Planning Committee
approved having Popeye’s for lunch.
DEPARTMENTAL MEETINGS
The Departmental Meetings are scheduled for August 20th
at 2:00 p.m.
NEW FACULTY ORIENTATION
The New Faculty Orientation is scheduled for August
20th at 4:00 p.m. if there are any new faculty for the
Fall semester.
FACULTY/STAFF PICNIC
The Faculty/Staff picnic will be held in the ASU Pavilion
this year on Friday, September 13th. Dean Duggar would
like to have some entertainment at this picnic and there
were many suggestions given such as; contacting Dr.
Bartee in the Music Department for a jazz ensemble;
Philip Jackson; contact The Edge Coffeehouse as they
have a small band and call Potlickers as they book different
bands.
OTHER
Dean Duggar asked the committee for suggestions on how
to involve the faculty in the Capital Campaign. Should
we have an open session. Dr. Roe suggested asking the
faculty to volunteer to work in the different sectors
with the outside people in the sectors.
Dean Duggar asked where we stand on clearpath for students
in accounting? Dr. Boyd commented that the mindset is
in the right direction more so than in the three years
that he’s been here. Streamlining the undergraduate
degree and improving it and developing a Masters in
Accounting (mid-Fall semester). Dr. Louella Moore has
the information on this and so does Dr. Washam. Should
have completed by Christmas. Dean Duggar stated that
we were to have a response to the AACSB team by November.
Dean Duggar asked if we have a review class and Dr.
Boyd stated that we do not. The review class as currently
offered out there commercially has too many hours. They
go to a 9-12 hour credit. Dr. Boyd stated that we would
be giving them credit again for everything that’s
already been covered.
Dr. Washam discussed the Charter Financial Analysis
Test.
Dr. Ford asked when the Masters in Accounting was going
to be offered and it should be mid-Fall semester. Dr.
Ford also asked Dean Duggar about the MIS Masters Degree.
Dean Duggar stated that we are looking at it right now.
Dr. Ford also commented that we need to change the Graduate
Curriculum Committee name to maybe: College of Business
Graduate Council. Dean Duggar thought this was a good
suggestion. Dean Duggar has more things on the committees
to discuss when he gets the information together.
Dean Duggar asked Carleen to discuss the publications
that are in the works. Carleen reported that the Business
Connection was in creative services and has been for
about a month now. The College of Business case statement
is also there as well as the College of Business view
book.
She also reported to the committee that a photographer
has been on campus taking pictures. He’ll be back
to take more pictures of students since it’s been
a little sparse this week.
We can order COB shirts on line through Chris Weiss.
Can order a shirt, it is made up and sent to us and
we don’t pay up front.
Carleen has been working with Audra Hoverton who has
her own web design company. She will provide us with
a bid. Will be using Dreamweaver software. Dr. Washam
wanted to know how easy it will be to learn and use
and Carleen has the software so she will get familiar
with the site.
Capital Campaign, Business Alumni Association
Need a permanent e-mail for alumns.
Day where parents could come in and sit in on classes,
eat lunch with the Dean. – Carleen suggested.
Dean suggested maybe a picnic.
Carleen stated that we are thinking about having a
Fall Emerald Gala (Nov 1) instead of a spring emerald
gala. Work on Silent Auction items now. Looking at another
band “The Rockets” – Jerry Smith booked
them.
Meeting adjourned at 3:00 p.m.
