BUSINESS
ETHICS assessment
involves three general expectations, which are summarized
below in order that reflects increasing
levels of student understanding.
LEVEL
1
Students will demonstrate
knowledge of the concepts of business and personal ethics.
Examples: By responding to examination questions and/or
reacting (written or orally) to scenarios with ethical
conflicts.
LEVEL
2
Students
will recognize the importance of ethics in the decision
making process.
Faculty members share their views on the importance of
ethics. Faculty may employ the Socratic method to guide
students through scenarios which lead them to discover
their beliefs about ethical dilemmas. Examples: Students
may be asked to submit a short paper on the "importance
of ethics."
LEVEL
3
Students will be
able to identify ethical dilemmas, develop alternative
courses of action, and select an appropriate ethical
strategy to implement their decision. Examples: Faculty
may present students with a comprehensive problem or
case which contains ethical conflicts. Students will
provide a written response in which they identify the
problems and choose from alternative strategies an acceptable
course of action.
