DIVERSITY today
is a leading economic, political, and social issue that
presents a serious challenge to members of the business
profession. Statistical trends are making clear the necessity
to understand and appreciate diversity and to learn to
work in a more diverse environment. Diversity
deals with several significant components: (1) Global
diversity and global cultural issues that are important
because of the large number of American firms involved
in a global marketplace; (2) Interpersonal skills that
are required to work effectively with men and women of
all races, creeds, religions, handicap, and ethnic background,
and (3) Knowledge and skills (including coaching skills)
to insure that organizations fulfill the requirements
of federal and state employment laws.
