Course: Public Expenditure and Taxation
Course Objectives: 1.To provide students with the basic rationale for public finance and its impact on economic efficiency and equity. 2. To develop the concept of public expenditures and their impact on public production, private production, and externalities. 3. To provide students, through the use of cost-benefit analysis, a "way of thinking" that allows them to evaluate social welfare programs. 4. Analyze the United States tax system and evaluate its impact on economic productive and allocative efficiency. 5. To review current tax reform proposals and to evaluate their impact on tax equity and national debt
