SUMMARY OF DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE
(2002-2003)

 

The Department of Economics and Decision Sciences offers three majors leading to Bachelor of Science degrees.  These majors are:

The department also offers a minor in Management Information Systems and coursework to support the College of Business minor in eCommerce.

In addition to completing the specific requirements for their respective majors, Business students must complete the ASU General Education requirements and the College of Business core requirements. Note below the summary of University requirements for all Bachelor of Science degrees offered by the College of Business.  


  1. Complete the correct number of hours presented for degree.
  2. Forty-five (45) junior/senior hours after 54 semester hours earned.
  3. Complete all required/elective courses.
  4. Complete English Proficiency Requirement -- Must make "C" or better in ENG 1003 and ENG 1013 (see ASU  catalog).
  5. Complete HIST 2763 or 2773 (U.S. History) or POSC 2103 (U.S. Government).
  6. Completion of the Rising Junior Exam.
  7. Minimum of 2.00 grade point average overall.
  8. Minimum of 2.00 grade point average at Arkansas State University*.
  9. Minimum grade point average of 2.25 calculated on last grade earned for each course in the College of Business core, or C or better in each course.
  10. Minimum grade point average of 2.25, calculated on last grade earned for each required course in the major, or C or better in each course.
  11. Other requirements:
  12. File an "Intent to Graduate" card, register for graduation by phone, and pay the graduation fee when registering for the final enrollment period. (If the student is unable to graduate at the end of the term for which application has been made, a new Intent to Graduate form must be filed during the next term in which the student expects to graduate).
  13. Correct catalog -- enrolled under and within last seven (7) years. (Students must complete   graduation requirements under the provisions of an ASU-Jonesboro catalog that is not more than seven years old at the time of the student's graduation, provided the student was enrolled in residence at a regionally accredited institution of higher education during the year the catalog was in effect. For example, the 2002 -2003 catalog expires with the August Commencement 2010.)

    Arkansas Law requires all students in Arkansas colleges to take the Rising Junior Exam sometime between the earned 45th college-level hour and the earned 61st college-level hour (Arkansas Assessment of General Education Exam, see ASU catalog page 37). Future registration will be blocked until this exam is taken.
