ASSOCIATES DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
2004-2005

Students considering the Management Information Systems major are referred to the specific course requirements for that program.  In addition, the University requirements for all Associates Degrees are indicated below.  For a more detailed enumeration of the requirements and regulations for Associates Degrees, see the Undergraduate Bulletin.

In addition to the specific course requirements, to be eligible for graduation, each student must:

  1. Complete 12 of the last 18 semester hours at Arkansas State University and meet ASU's residency requirement by completing at least 16 semester hours on the ASU-Jonesboro campus.  Exemptions to the "13 of the last 18" regulation may be granted by the dean of the College of Business.  A maximum of 25 percent of an associate degree program may be earned through examination (including CLEP), correspondence, evaluated military service credits, and USAFI courses.  A student may submit a maximum of 15 CLEP credit hours toward an associates degree.
  2. Earn a grade of C or better in ENG 1003 and ENG 1013.
  3. Have a grade-point average of 2.25 or better on all work attempted, as well as on the coursework listed under "MAJOR REQUIREMENTS".  In addition, if the student is a transfer student, on all work taken at ASU must average at least a C or better.
  4. Initiate an INTENT TO GRADUATE form and pay the graduation fee when registering for the final enrollment period before completing all degree requirements (If the student is unable to graduate at the end of the semester for which application has been made, a new INTENT TO GRADUATE form must be filed during the next semester in which the student expects to graduate).  An official record of correspondence or transfer work completed at another institution must be on file in the Registrar's Office at Arkansas State University at least three weeks before the degree is to be granted.
  5. Complete graduation requirements under the provisions of an ASU-Jonesboro catalog that is not more than seven years old at the time of the student's graduation, provided the student was enrolled in residence at a regionally accredited institution of higher education during the year the catalog was in effect.  The 2004-2005 catalog expires with the August Commencement 2011.
