> Professional Speaker Series
It's important for students to learn from professionals
in the business world. In addition to frequent presentations
by professionals in classes, the College of Business has
two sources of support for its Professional Speaker Series
in business and economics.
The Stella Horton Alsey and
Howard Alsey Lecture Series in Business was endowed
to bring distinguished speakers in the areas of business
and economics to the Arkansas State University campus. In
October, 2002, this series brought Jeffery Birnbaum, business
analyst for Fortune Magazine and CNN, to speak
on business ethics in light of the Enron and other corporate
accounting scandals.
One goal of the Horizon Institute
of Technology of Arkansas State University is to bring
to campus distinguished speakers in the area of management
information systems. These presentations are for top level
business executives as well as business students at ASU.
In March of 2003, John F. Rockart, Director of the Center
for Information Systems Research, visited ASU. He is the
George and Sandra Schussel Distinguished Lecturer of Information
Technology at the Sloan School of Management at MIT.
