Institute of International Education
ASU is a member of the
Institute of International Education
(IIE). This is an association of over 770 higher educational
institutions around the world and is the world's first truly
global professional association for international education
policy makers, administrators, and researchers. Membership
provides ASU with a network of international education professionals
with expert analytical information and research, and a forum
for discussion and interaction.
The IIE network provides opportunities for a full immersion,
direct enrollment experience for a semester or academic
year. Although particularly suited for the student interested
in foreign language acquisition, many courses are taught
in English in a wide variety of academic areas.

Scholarship Information
Magellan Exchange
The Office of International Programs in association with
ASU’s College of Business cooperates with the
Magellan Exchange
Program. This consortium of schools of business in the United
States and several European countries provides students
the opportunity to study abroad. Currently, the program
has ten member schools in the United States and eight members
in Europe.
Middle East Studies Committee
The Middle East Studies Grant is a result of a donation
to ASU to encourage an awareness and understanding of issues
and peoples of the Middle East. Each year, part of the income
from this grant is dedicated to support ASU’s faculty and
students to study and conduct research about the Middle
East. The Middle East Studies Committee (MESC) awards these
grants to qualified ASU faculty and students who propose
to conduct academic on-site research. These awards are open
to all fields of study.
Designated Middle East countries include Bahrain, Egypt,
Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria,
United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Algeria, Tunisia, Turkey, Morocco,
Ethiopia, Djibouti and Sudan.
As of September, 2001, the following Middle East countries
have been issued travel warnings by the Department of State:
Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen. ASU does not encourage travel
to any countries considered a risk by the United States
Department of State.
