Graduate Program of Study
for the Master of Accountancy (MBA)
The MBA program consists of a curriculum of 31 credit
hours. It includes 15 hours of accounting courses, ten hours
of courses related to the business environment, three hours
of international courses, and three hours of information
systems courses.
Students with a non-accounting
undergraduate degree typically must take up to 15 hours
of undergraduate accounting courses, resulting in as much
as a 46-hour program for such students. Students with a
non-business undergraduate degree may be required to take
an additional six hours, resulting in a 52-hour program.
In their last semester,
students will complete the capstone experience course ACCT
6503 Special Problems in Accounting, which will require
students to work with an accounting graduate faculty member
on an in-depth research project. Students will attend a
regularly scheduled class during project development and
implementation. The project must be approved by the faculty
member and graduate director prior to enrollment for that
final semester. The capstone experience will culminate in
a written issues paper and a presentation of the results
of the research or other approved project. A grade of "B"
or better on the capstone project will be required for graduation.
