Complementary and Discounted Certification Exams

The top CIT major in each of our classes associated with an industry certification (not including MOS) will be issued a voucher for the corresponding exam.  For example, the top student in the IT Project Management class (CIT 4853) will be sponsored for the CompTIA Project+ exam (PK0-002).  For a table listing CIT courses and associated certification exams, refer to our Credit by Examination for Industry Certifications page.  You are also encouraged to check with your instructor regarding this opportunity.

In addition, because the CIT Department is a member of the Novell Academic Training Partnership (NATP), as well as CompTIA, all CIT majors receive substantial discounts on the CompTIA and Novell certification exams.  To arrange to take one of these exams, you will need to pay the CIT Department a discounted amount (varies per exam) and you will receive an exam voucher to be used at any testing center, such as the Pearson VUE facility housed in the Business Building at ASU.  For more information, please check with John Seydel, Department Chair.

Finally, all students are eligible to take the core exams for the major Microsoft certifications (not including the MOS) at a discounted rate of $60 per exam.  To capitalize on this offer, you would register as usual at any Pearson VUE testing center but you would select the academic option.  For more information, please check with our Technology Support Director, Michael Glover (mglover@astate.edu).
