Descriptions of Course Categories
  • Business Technology (CIT prefix)

Courses designed to prepare individuals for educational careers in the area of business and information technology.  The undergraduate (BSE) courses form the foundation for any student wishing to obtain a Business Technology teaching licenses for the middle school level, the junior high school level, and/or the secondary school level.  These courses also form the foundation for those wishing to prepare for educational careers in industry.  The graduate (MSE) courses provide a student with an opportunity to specialize further in the student’s area of interest.  These courses also prepare a student for admission into a doctoral program.

  • Management Information Systems (CIT prefix)

Coursework involving Information Technology and its development and management, to include also concepts, techniques, and technologies for supporting resource management both within an organization and among its supply network.   In conjunction with the Business core, these courses lead to the BS in Computer & Information Technology (to include an emphasis in Operations Technology), at the undergraduate level, and to the MS in Information Systems & eCommerce at the graduate level.

  • MBA Foundation (MBA prefix)

Non-Business majors typically must take foundation (i.e., leveling) courses in Business prior to enrolling in graduate level Business coursework.  In the past, this involved around 30 credit hours of classes.  However, we have now developed a set of five courses that have condensed the foundation coursework into 15 credit hours or less.  In addition, each of these courses is modular, requiring the student to take only those portions she/he has not already completed at the undergraduate level.  Thus, the process of qualifying for graduate coursework in Business has been streamlined.
