BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF OFFICERS
FOR 2006
President
Susan Naylor received her Bachelor of Science degree
in Business Administration from Arkansas State University
in 1997. In 1998, she received her MBA degree from Arkansas
State University. Susan is currently employed as a CERTIFIED
FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner at Morgan Stanley.
She is also a graduate of Leadership Jonesboro.
Vice President
Rusty Chambers received his Bachelor of Science
degree in Marketing from Arkansas State University in 1989.
He is currently seeking the Certified Employee Benefits
professional designation co-sponsored by the International
Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and The Wharton School
of the University of Pennsylvania. Rusty serves as Vice-President
of Employee Benefits & Executive Planning at Insurance
Network.
Secretary/Treasurer
Marti Rowan received her Bachelor of Science in
Business Administration degree from Arkansas State University
in 2001 and her MBA in 2003. She served as associate director
of administration for Arkansas Rural Sourcing and project
coordinator for Horizon Institute of Technology. Marti is
currently employed as an account executive at TRUE visionary
marketing.
Membership Chair
Randy Bearce received his Bachelor of Science in
Finance from Arkansas State University in 1998. He is very
involved in community service including being the Treasurer
of the United Way Board of Directors. He is on the Board
of Directors for Jonesboro Economic Development Corporation,
ASU Touchdown Club, and the Jonesboro Baseball Boosters.
Randy is a graduate of Leadership Jonesboro. Randy is a
VP/Commercial Loan Officer at Regions Bank.
Special Events Chair
Dawn Layer received her Bachelor of Science in
Management degree from Arkansas State University in 1981.
She serves on the ASU Committee for the Greater Jonesboro
Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors for the American
Heart Association in Jonesboro. Dawn is currently employed
as public relations coordinator for Families, Inc. Counseling
Services.
Student Recruitment/Young Alumni Chair
Bryan Gauthreaux received his Bachelor of Science
degree in Management Information Systems in 2003, along
with a Human Resource degree in 2005. Bryan is a former
ASU football player (2000-2004). Currently, he is the Human
Resource Coordinator for Express Personnel in Jonesboro,
where he is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management
(SHRM) and also is an active member of the Jonesboro Chamber
of Commerce.
At-Large Board Member/Past President
Daya McAlexander received her Bachelor of Science
degree in Accounting from Arkansas State University in 1991
where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. In 1992 she received
her MBA degree. Daya has been a CPA for 14 years. Among
her various affiliations, She is a graduate of Leadership
Jonesboro, a member of Leadership Link and the Jonesboro
Heart Guild. Daya is a licensed commercial real estate agent
and is employed by Burrow-Halsey Realty Group, Inc.
At-Large Board Member
Jake Morse received his Bachelor of Science degree
in Accounting and Management from Arkansas State University
in 1991. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Math and
Physics from Quachita Baptist University. He is President
of Morse Company, Inc. producers of Fasweet Liquid Sweetener
and Aqua Clear Custom Labeled Bottled Water. He served as
the Rotary International District 6150 District Governor
for 2004-05 and is currently the Finance and Nominating
Committee Chair. Among many accomplishments and much community
service, Jake is currently on the Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce
Government Liaison and Aviation Committees.
At-Large Board Member
Ryan Moore graduated from Arkansas State University
with a Bachelor of Science degree in Corporate Finance in
2001. Ryan owns and operates an Allstate Insurance Agency
in Jonesboro and is also the owner of Concept Builders,
LLC, a residential home building company. He is a member
of the Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce, the Jonesboro Jaycees,
and sits on the board of the young Professionals Network
and is a past graduate of Leadership Jonesboro and former
Chair of the Business Expo.
Faculty Liaison, College of Business
Dr. Paula Ruby graduated from Arkansas State University
with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in Business
Education in 1989. In 1990 she earned her Master of Science
in Education degree in Business Education. Her Ed.D. is
in Technological and Adult Education from the University
of Tennessee. She has been a faculty member in the Computer
and Information Technology department since 2001.
Faculty Liaison, College of Business
Dr. Ralph Ruby, Jr. earned his Bachelors and Masters
degrees in Business Education from the University of Tennessee.
He earned his Ed.D. in Vocational Education from the University
of Missouri. Ralph has been on the Arkansas State University
faculty since 1979 with joint appointments in the College
of Business and the College of Education. He is a member
of the Computer and Information Technology department where
he is in charge of the Business Technology program.
Dean, College of Business
Dr. Len Frey graduated from Arkansas State University
with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1984.
In 1990 he received his MBA. His Ph.D. is from the University
of Memphis in Business Administration (Organizational Behavior).
Len came to Arkansas State as Chair of the Management and
Marketing Department in 2000. In 2005 he was appointed as
Dean of the College of Business.
ASU Alumni Association
Representative
Todd Clark
graduated from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Management Information Systems in 2004. He began
working for the ASU Alumni Association in 2006. His duties
include planning special events, overseeing alumni programs
and serving as the staff liaison between the Association and
its alumni chapters..
